Die Transformation Talks 4.0 brachten in Essen Nachwuchswissenschaftler:innen, Praktiker:innen, Künstler:innen und Stadtmacher:innen zusammen, um darüber zu diskutieren, wie künstlerische Praktiken neue Impulse für nachhaltige urbane Transformationen setzen können: Von Reallaboren über Manifesta 16 Ruhr bis hin zu künstlerischer Forschung und partizipativen Stadtpraktiken. Das vielfältige Programm aus Spotlights, Nachwuchs-Pitches und World Café hat einmal mehr gezeigt, wie wichtig transdisziplinärer Austausch für die Gestaltung unserer Städte ist – und dass Kunst hierbei ein zentrales, inklusives Kommunikations- und Verständigungsmedium sein kann.

The Transformation Talks 4.0 brought together early-career researchers, practitioners, artists and urban developers in Essen to discuss how artistic practices can provide new impetus for sustainable urban transformation: From real-world laboratories and Manifesta 16 Ruhr to artistic research and participatory urban practices. The diverse programme, comprising spotlights, pitches by early-career researchers and a World Café, demonstrated once again how important transdisciplinary exchange is for shaping our cities – and that art can serve as a central, inclusive medium for communication and understanding in this context.
